One pregnant Boston-area mom thought she had enough time to get to the hospital, but things took an urgent turn on the car ride there.
Massachusetts State Trooper Michael Close, who was on duty near Mass General Hospital in Boston, said he saw a car stop and a woman scream, according to WCVB.com. The couple, Heidi and Andrew Cheerman, were about to become parents.
"I looked down, and the head was completely out," Close said of baby Alanna, who he then delivered on the sidewalk. Dad was nearby, holding her head.
"I didn't plan it this way," Heidi admitted. "I wanted to have her at Mass General. I didn't think it would be down the street from Mass General."
