  • How do you feel about cow's milk vs other types?Latest reply: July 19, 2012, 12:54 p.m. by

I've been reading a lot recently about how cow's milk is no good for us and can be addictive. (I do think the addictive part is a little much, but totally agree with the not good for us bit.) I breastfed my son until he self weaned at 13 months and he has now only drank almond and coconut milk. I'm curious how others feel on this.

The only milk I give to my kids is cow's milk and I am not sure why it wouldn't be good for us...as I drink it myself.

Just something I'm learning about and hearing a lot of lately!

I remember Dr. Spock had a whole section on this. I think the most important thing is to go organic so you avoid the hormones, but I don't think you need to stay away completely. I may not be in the majority on this one, but I think it's okay in moderation.

I had one kid with an allergy to cows milk, we switched to goats milk on advice of pediatrician. Allergic reactions pretty much gone even if he eats something with cows milk added. It tastes ok and the kids dont really notice the difference, I DONT recommend it for coffee though.
There really arent any mass-produced goats milks out there, so generally its organic. I had read somewhere that its easier to digest because the molecules are smaller, but not sure if this is voodoo.

I think cow organic milk is good for kids, but no good for grown-ups. My dad keeps on telling me to quit cow milk, my husband and i drink organic low-fat. But we can't stop. it taste so good.

I personally think it's strange that we drink milk after infancy. Animals do not drink milk into their adulthood. Maybe that's just my weird hippy way of thinking. We use nut and rice milk in our household.

As a dairy farmer I HAVE to argue for cows milk. I personally drink raw cow milk and not only love the taste but also all the nutients that are found naturally in milk. As with everything, use it in moderation. But I know that my house will always be a COW MILK drinking house.

Cow's milk is good for kids for the fat , in it for their brains to develop , but after 2years old , unless you nurse, which is the best, but, soy, almond, hemp, rice milk is very good , remember, are bodies were originally designed for veggies, grain, water after infancy,
