  • My 11 year old son is still wetting the bed every night. Latest reply: July 26, 2012, 8:11 p.m. by

We are running out of ideas. Anyone else have some advice? His doctor keeps saying that he'll grow out of it... We have tried limiting liquids at night, waking him up every few hours to go to the bathroom, having him strip his bed every morning and start his laundry, big kid pull ups, but nothing seems to be making a difference. My husband and I never make him feel bad for wetting the bed, but I know that it bothers him. My husband was a bed wetter until around 14, and my nephew was also a bed wetter until around 7. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Did you have the doctor test for diabetes? I work in an elem. school and many of the older children who have had trouble with bed wetting have ended up with type 1 diabetes. They often find out when they go into diabetic coma. My friends mom is a nurse and it even happened to her own son so sometimes doctors overlook it. On the other hand with family history it might just be a case of deep sleeping and as annoying as that is he is likely getting really good rest. :)
