Yes, life is not always going to be a perfect journey. There are many times in ones life that we are challenged with defeat. We must teach our childen at an early age that there will be many ups and downs in the journey.

I think it's unrealistic to encourage a child to think they will succeed at every single thing, as long as they try their hardest then they not only learn that you can't always win but also it helps them identify their strengths and weaknesses.
Life is full of successes and failures. It's what moulds our character. Letting a child fail, but supporting them through it to learn to go on is a wonderful way to help them learn to gain strength to try again.
