First-time mom Joleen Adamson did not get to coast through labor. And while most moms rarely do, her 36-hour experience was anything but ordinary. After nearly two days of pushing, Adamson gave birth to a beautiful baby boy.
At 11 pounds, 6 ounces, baby Theo attracted a lot of attention in the delivery room. Twenty members of the hospital staff gathered to watch as the tot was weighed for the first time. Surprised when he ultimately arrived, Adamson said, "I wasn't told he was going to be a big baby!" And apparently there were no signs of his size on her routine scans.
While he was 10 days late, Anderson says she didn't eat anything abnormal during her pregnancy. Due to his size, Adamson lost a lot of blood during labor and had to receive a number of transfusions. Both mom and baby are happy and healthy. Though Theo has already outgrown his baby clothes, he's fitting into 3- and 6-month-old clothes, instead.
