Royal Baby Christening Details

The royal baby has finally been christened! The deed was done at the Chapel Royal in St. James's Palace in the afternoon. But what was really interesting was the list (yes, list) of godparents announced just hours before the ceremony.

How many godparents do most people have? Probably one or two, at the most. But little Prince George is no ordinary baby, so he had seven.

The Cambridge Duke and Duchess (William and Kate in case you didn't know) appointed the godparents from a pick of close friends, royalty and an old friend of William's late mom, Diana. Who exactly were they? Read on to find out.

Zara Tindall is the royal of the group, and a close cousin to William. There were also a couple schoolmates—Oliver Baker, who went to college with the couple, and Emilia Jardine-Paterson, who went to Marlborough College with Kate. Then there is Earl Gosvenor, who's related to William's own godparent, and Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, who is the copule's Principal Private Secretary and Equerry. Julia Samuel is the old friend of Diana who's involved in a mutual charity with William. And finally, William van Cutsem is one of the friends who helped William and his brother Harry through their tough times after the death of their mother.

"It was entirely their choice, their personal preference," says a royal palace source, according to People. "There was no set number that they had to choose and have gone with seven people. ... They wanted to include family and friends and reflect their life on both sides." Sounds good to us!
