Sometimes a new stepmom will try to be everything to everyone. Taking the world on your shoulders is an invitation for blurred boundary lines and might backfire, making a child feel like a guest in her own home.
Try instead: “Everyone does chores in this house. Out of these options, what do you want to do?”
