  • Sally Anne posted a new comment on Do you put Vicks Vapor Rub on your kids' feet when they're sick?...
Yes. This is a secret that our pediatrician mentioned and it really works. Our trick is to use thick ski socks (Smartwool), so that the warmth is maximized and the Vicks doesn't seep out onto the sheets. Here, we have the fever / cough flu going around and both of my kids had it - ages 10 and 7. Using the Vicks, I got them back to school within three days. I don't use Vicks on the chest, however. I never grew up with it and this usage seems like a recipe for disaster with getting it in their eyes or all over their bed. Hope that helps.

If I had three hours a day to work out like Heidi Klum, I'd look amazing in a mini van too. Get real. Celebrity Moms look great and relaxed because they have an army of personal assistants, nannies, trainers and nutritionists making it so...

I will try this. Looks amazing! At our local Trader Joes, you can get whole wheat pizza dough, so I'll follow the directions and toppings with the pre-made dough. Thanks!

  • Sally Anne posted a new comment on Do I let my son go to a co-ed sleepover?...
I have a 9y daughter. It's hard enough to handle a room full of 9y girls, let alone create more drama by adding the boys. Check out recess one afternoon. You'll see the dynamic without me having to sound cliche here. If the purpose of a sleep over is to have a special, intimate experience, I'd pass. If he's ready, I'd go see "The Avengers". This will undoubtedly be more rewarding and memorable...

  • Sally Anne posted a new comment on What about free play?...
I have a 9 year-old and a 7 year-old, neither of whom do any free play, despite my trying. There are plenty of adult-directed activities: piano lessons, brownies, dance class, soccer practice... but not the kids in the cul-de-sac or backyard play. Nothing like I did when I was a kid. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to get this started in our neighborhood? Any resources?
