How to Mix Baby Cereal

When your baby is ready for cereal, mix about 1 teaspoon of baby cereal with 1 teaspoon of formula or breast milk in a small dish, says Dr. Charles I. Shubin, a pediatrician at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. “Your baby has to learn how to eat by spoon, so it may take some time for your baby to adjust,” he says. According to Shubin, your baby is ready for cereal when he is at least 4 months old and is taking 8 ounces of formula or breast milk from a bottle. If your baby is struggling with the consistency consider holding off for a while or using a little more liquid until she learns how to swallow this new food.
