Is It OK to Put Aloe on a Diaper Rash?

Pure aloe is acceptable to use for prevention or treatment of a mild diaper rash, says pediatrician Jennifer A. Gardner, based in Washington, D.C. “I also recommend parents use a commercial diaper rash ointment that has aloe vera gel and zinc oxide,” says Gardner, founder of Healthy Kids Company. If a baby has a diaper rash, allow her to go without a diaper as much as possible while applying aloe on irritated skin. Moisture worsens a diaper rash, and exposure to air helps dry off the baby’s bottom, she notes.
