How Much Spit-Up Is Normal for a Baby?

When a baby spits up, it always seems like a lot, but an ounce or two is nothing to be concerned about. “If you take 2 ounces of formula and spill it on your lap, you will quickly see that what comes out of your baby is typically far less,” says California-based pediatrician Carey Chronis. “If your baby is not gaining weight well, or if the vomit goes flying across the room, these are times to seek immediate medical attention.” You should also talk to the pediatrician when the spit-up is associated with intense cries of pain.
