Can Husbands Accompany Wives for C-Sections?

In most cases of cesarean-section delivery, the patient's husband may stay in the operating room with her. A possible exception would be an emergency C-section performed under general anesthesia, according to labor and delivery nurse Laurie Knott of Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly, NJ. In that situation, the patient's husband would be required to remain just outside the operating room, where he could see the baby right after birth.
