Can Teething Produce Fevers?

Even though your baby may feel warm to the touch when she is pushing out those first tiny teeth, teething is likely not the cause of fever, particularly a high fever, according to Dr. Jen Trachtenberg, New York-based pediatrician. “If fever does occur, it’s important to evaluate and find the cause and not just assume it’s from teething,” she says. “Babies certainly can get fussy, cranky and not want to eat when teething, though.” If your baby runs a fever during teething, consult the pediatrician for assessment and guidance.
