Teething Symptoms: Bleeding

Although a small amount of bleeding may occur, it is not usual for there to be a lot of bleeding when a baby is teething, says Dr. Jennifer B. Trachtenberg, a New York City-based pediatrician. If your baby has a lot of bleeding while teething, it could be an eruption cyst or blood blister that may appear before the tooth comes through, she says. “It can be blue or purplish and look like a bruise, but it will disappear as the tooth comes through the gum.” Try and comfort your child with frozen teething toys or mesh bags of frozen fruit that will numb the gums.
