It is absolutely beneficial for a husband to attend a breastfeeding class, according to Leigh Anne O'Connor, New York-based certified lactation consultant. "This means a second set of eyes and ears to take in the information," she notes. "Additionally, a partner's support can make or break the breastfeeding experience.”
A breastfeeding class can provide education about the normal course of breastfeeding. It should be extended to the mom's support system, including grandparents and friends, as well as the partner, so the mom feels supported and the entire team is educated, O'Connor says.
