How Often Should Babies Nurse at 6 Months?

While there is no exact number of times a day a baby should nurse at 6 months, this is a common growth spurt stage, so she may nurse more than usual, says Leigh Anne O'Connor, New York-based certified lactation consultant. "Some moms have a large milk storage capacity, while others have a smaller storage capacity, which contributes to how much a baby will nurse," she adds. In addition, some babies like to be cuddly and cozy, while others are more distracted and may nurse less frequently. The key to providing your baby with enough nutrients is to follow her lead, O'Connor concludes.
