Could a Baby's Formula Cause a Lot of Gas?

Formula can cause gas in some babies, depending on their metabolism and ability to digest the formula, says Dr. Jane Scott, Colorado-based pediatrician and neonatologist. The sugar in the formula can significantly increase the amount of gas a baby will experience. “If your baby is experiencing a significant amount of gas, the type of formula or the baby's feeding schedule may need to be changed” says Scott. Consult your pediatrician to find the best option for your baby if the gas is causing discomfort.
