6 Ways to Style Denim in September

Denim is a classic trend that comes back around every year in the fall. It is having a serious moment right now, and it's not going away any time soon. I'm here to show you how to style your denim just right.

Denim on denim. Yes, my friends, it is time to embrace the Canadian Tuxedo. It's in style, and there's nothing you can do about it but just go with it. You may be surprised at how much you love this look. Play around with different washes and add a belt to separate the sea of denim. I like a lighter wash denim top with a darker denim bottom, and a nice brown belt to finish the deal. Boom.

Denim shirt dress. This is such an easy look that anyone can pull off. It pairs great with some tights in cooler weather, or with a good pair of boots and a big floppy hat. The best part of this look is that it is effortless and so easy to throw on and go. It's also forgiving and is flattering for many body types. Mom tested and approved!

Ripped jeans. Paired with a band tee and some Birkenstocks, you have the perfect weekend look. Effortlessly cool and so easy to pull off, ripped jeans are the new mom uniform. For a sleeker look, try a pair of black ripped jeans paired with some chunky heeled ankle boots and a blazer.

Go dark. For a sophisticated and smart look, forego the ripped light wash and go for the darkest pair of jeans you can find, in either blue or black. This instantly takes the casual denim jean look to a whole new level, making it almost office appropriate- note that I said almost.

Overalls. Yes, overalls are back and it's futile to resist this trend, so I say let's embrace it! Pick out a structured pair in a dark wash that hugs you in the all the right places for a surprisingly chic and sophisticated look! I mean, as chic and sophisticated as a pair of overalls can be, anyway. They're still overalls, after all.

Throw it on top. Want to add denim to your look without going all out? Just throw on a denim top or jacket over your outfit, and voilà! You can tie a chambray around your waist or add a jacket over a neutral outfit for the perfect pop of denim blue.
