Jason Shapiro loves comedy, going viral, Barack Obama and babies. (But mostly going viral.) After overhearing his co-workers on the TV show "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland" tell ridiculous stories about daycare, Shapiro figured comedy + babies = viral + White House invite. Thus, the Twitter feed Los Feliz Day Care was born (at home, in the water, no weight reported to avoid early onset food issues).
Mom.me spoke to Shapiro about LFDC:
Any chance you'll expand to Silver Lake? Enlist an East Coast bureau chief for Park Slope?
Los Feliz Day Care is willing to go anywhere that is community oriented, sustainability minded, peanut and tree-nut free, vegan or animal conscious at the very least, and has parents that are willing to drop everything and run the class-gerbil to the vet because he/she ate too many untreated wood chips.
Do you offer a sliding scale in terms of rates? Beekeeping in exchange for Tuesday/Thursday afternoons?
We do offer a barter system and yes, it often involves honey from home hives, eggs from home coops and home berries—as long as they have been parent-tested and do not induce wild dreams and mania.
Our favorite educator is Pedro Noguera, so it would be an absolute dream if he visited our campus.
