Top Ten Must-Haves for New Babies (and Moms)

It's been four and a half years since I last shopped for newborn essentials for my own kids. That's why, for this post, I turned to trusted moms and friends on the internet (thanks, Facebook!) and beyond to help me put together A LIST OF AWESOME THINGS TO ADD TO YOUR REGISTRY OR BORROW FROM A FRIEND FOR YOUR NEW BABY (OR BABIES)!

Here is a list of new mom must-haves based on your fantastic suggestions.

This list is in order of what was MOST recommended by those kind enough to recommend.

1. Ergobaby Carrier

Other baby carriers that are beloved:

- Moby wrap

- TULA baby carrier

- Solly baby wrap

- Boba wrap

- Lillebaby

- Maya wrap

2. Aden and Anais Swaddling Blankets

I also love the Munchkin bamboo swaddle blankets. They're GORGEOUS.

3. Rock 'n' Play Swing/Sleeper:

This is apparently THE must-have item of the season because WHOA, everyone recommended this swing and I had never heard of it before. So HEAR THIS, LADIES AND GENTS: The Rock 'n' Play swing is where it's AT.

Other recommended swings:

- My Little Lamb Cradle 'n' Swing

- Graco Snugabunny

- MamaRoo

4. White Noise Machine (or app)

- Dohm Sound Machine (my personal favorite)

- Baby Shusher (there's also an app)

- White Noise Ambience Lite (app)

- Cloud Baby Monitor App

- Bluetooth station for white noise app use

5. Baby Bjorn Bouncer

This was MY must-have baby item and more than a dozen fellow moms agreed. The Baby Bjorn Bouncer chair is a CLASSIC. My twins LIVED in these chairs their first year of life. Besides my Ergo carriers, they were my most beloved items.

6. Nose Frida

I didn't even know this existed and EVERYONE unanimously agreed that THIS IS A MUST-HAVE for new parents so, BAM. There you have it. Add this sucker (zing!) to your registry, friends.

7. Infant Swaddle

Recommended brands:

- Woombie swaddling sack

This was another item I had never heard of that came highly recommended by multiple trusted sources.

Other items that were mentioned:

For Moms

1. Breast pump

A good breast pump is a must. Recommendations vary on this one. I rented mine from the hospital and also used a hand pump. Feel free to recommend your favorite pump in the comments, below!

2. Leggings

For postpartum bods, leggings are a must. Easy, comfortable, weightless ... and comfortable.

3. Mother Love Nipple Cream

4. Good nursing bras (and tanks)

Boob Nursing Bras are a favorite.

So are these by Cake lingerie.

I bought nursing tanks at Target and lived in those. Still do, even though I haven't nursed a child in 7 years.

5. Dry Shampoo

6. Yoga ball to bounce baby (and self) on

7. Breast Friend Nursing Pillow

8. Tucks pads and Dermoplast for post-birth pain relief.
