I’ve been thinking a lot about my role as a mother, and how important it really is. Sure, it can be messy and difficult and frustrating and days can feel so very long, but it’s the best job I’ve ever had and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

On those particularly difficult days, I like to focus on the positive and reflect on what I love about where I am in life at this very moment, and I thought it’d be fun to ask other mothers to do the same. So if you’re having a long day today, know that you aren’t alone. And focus on what you love most about your job as a mother. Here’s what other moms had to say:

“My favorite part? The overwhelming love. It’s the greatest feeling to be this adored and to love someone with so much of yourself that it’s crippling. It’s amazing.” – Kate B.

“No matter how the day went, at the end of the day my baby looks at me as if I’m the best thing in the world! I just love those sweet eyes of his and the way he hugs me and grabs my hand as if he doesn’t want me to let go. I just feel so blessed!” – Ivonne A.

“My favorite part of motherhood is the cuddling and the neediness. I know I'll miss this during their teen years and I love the 'Mommy, Mommy, Mommy' all day long!” – Lindsey C.

“My 4-year-old is hilarious! I just love our silly conversations and how independent he is. Being able to watch him grow into his own little person and playing a big part in who he becomes is my favorite part of motherhood!” – Dana M

The way he looks at me and smiles his big toothless grin and hugs and kisses me makes me feel like the luckiest woman in the world.

Breastfeeding is so amazing. No matter how crazy my day is, as soon as we settle in for a feed I’m brought back to the moment. I love all of the little noises she makes, when she looks right at me and gives me a cheeky grin. All my worries melt away and what’s happening in that moment between the two of us is all that matters.” – Saska B.

“I love how my kids think I’m the coolest person in the world. It’s a pretty awesome feeling. They are just so full of unconditional love that it melts my heart!” – Alison F.

“My favorite part of motherhood is the confidence I've developed in myself. I’ve never been athletic or artistic, and I was never much into school, but motherhood is where I feel I belong. It’s my gig.” – Meg H.

“The coolest thing about motherhood that I’ve found is that everything comes second to the love my little boy has for me! The way he looks at me and smiles his big toothless grin and hugs and kisses me makes me feel like the luckiest woman in the world. I wish I could freeze time so that I could have my little baby forever!” – Faiza N.

“It's easy to get caught up in the craziness of motherhood, to feel overwhelmed or insufficient. Some days, I feel like I have it all together, other days I'm a hot mess. But then there are the quiet, sweet moments where it's just my baby and me, and I’m feeding her and holding her in my arms, and I can feel her breath rise and fall with mine, and I realize: this is it. She needs me more than anything. This is everything.” – Katie R.

“My favorite part of motherhood is that amazing feeling I get of my heart literally bursting with love for these tiny people. I’ve always heard there is no love like a parent has for their child and it’s so true. I look at my little ones constantly and sometimes I think my heart is going to explode. The little moments throughout the day that warm my heart so much, they far outweigh the trying and frustrating times.” – Tori J.

“I love that there is always an amazing new surprise. Every day, my sweet baby does something new and amazing that makes my heart melt. Whether it’s a beautiful coo sound, a sweet smile, or even a loud toot, every day seems better than the day before. How is it possible that my heart can keep expanding?” – Brenna I.
