At the age of 21, a pre-fame Joni Mitchell discovered that she was pregnant with her boyfriend's child while living in Toronto. Mitchell gave birth to the baby girl in February of 1965 and according to the Toronto Sun, gave the baby up for adoption, knowing she couldn't provide for her financially. A short time later, she would travel to the United States to become one of the breakthrough folk superstars of her era. Daughter Kilauren Gibb was reunited with her biological mother, who had made it known she was looking for an adopted daughter, in 1997 after friend's encouraged the Mitchell lookalike to reach out to the singer's management. "I immediately got the feeling that I was home, that we belonged together," Gibb recalled of their first meeting.
