Made most popular by its exclusive "Sonic the Hedgehog" game series, the Sega (with its sleek, all-black design) was pegged as the "cool" console. It even knocked the 8-bit Nintendo off its pedestal for a brief moment in time—until Super Nintendo came out, of course.
