Do not, I repeat, do not get your significant other’s name,
image, initials, permanently tattooed on your skin. Seriously, don’t do it.
Well, unless you already did the deed. If so, then you probably shouldn’t read
the rest of my article because it might make you rethink your tattoo choice.
So, the rest of you, those of you who don’t have “Stan,”
“Frank Forever” or “Property of George” tattooed on your body, I have to say,
well done! You have avoided the tattoo trap that seems to put an automatic jinx
on the relationship. But some weren’t as lucky. Case in point: Nick Cannon and
The power couple, who have a pair of twins, recently
announced that they have separated. Not in a “Let’s just have a few weeks or
months apart” sort of way. No, this was in an “I’m going to get Mariah’s name
covered up with a huge image of Jesus on the cross” sort of way. Yes, that.
Nick Cannon isn’t the only high-profile celebrity to get
their one-time love’s name covered up.
1. Johnny Depp famously had his Winona Forever tattoo changed
to Wino Forever
3. After Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas
broke up, she had his name removed from the middle of the large heart tattooed
on her bicep.
4. Eva Longoria had not one, not two, but THREE tattoos put
on her body in tribute to her then husband — basketball star Tony Parker. She
had a “nine” on the back of her neck (his jersey number), 07-07-07 on her wrist
(for their wedding date) and his initials somewhere secret. After they broke
up, she had all three removed.
5. Heidi Klum once had Seal’s name artistically inked down the inside of her arm
but after the model and the singer parted ways, she had his name slowly erased.
6. Tattoo artist Kat Von D should have known better when she
got a portrait of her then fiancé Jesse James tattooed on her body. But no, she
made the kind of mistake that she’s seen oodles of others make. After they
broke up, she went through a series of laser treatments to get his face off her

So what is the lesson here? It is simple. DON’T GET YOUR
MATE’S TATTOO ON YOUR BODY.
If you really want to get a tribute to someone you love, think of getting something, anything else. Instead, get “Mom,” “Dad” your kid’s
name, or a piece of your kid’s artwork, or hell, even your OWN name. (You can’t
break up with yourself now can you?)
Have you ever considered getting your significant other’s
name tattooed on your body?
