Best and Worst Dressed at the 2014 CMA Awards

The CMA Awards were last night, celebrating the best of the past year in country music. But let’s be honest, a good reason to watch is to make our own commentary on the best and worst of celebrity fashion. It is, after all, the most important (and most fun) part of any awards show. The music was all good, but the fashion, well ... Let’s just see how that was, shall we …

Moms Who Rocked the Red Carpet

The gorgeous mom-to-be Carrie Underwood was looking absolutely radiant in all of the dresses she wore last night as host. She accentuated the bump just right and looked flawless doing it.

Nicole Kidman always looks glamorous, and I’m convinced she can wear anything and look stunning. This vintage-inspired white lace gown is a case in point. Both elegant and a bit risqué at the same time, Nicole nailed it.

Kimberly Williams was a stunner in this gorgeous blue lace gown that hugged in all the right places. She knows if you’ve got the bod, flaunt it and she did so perfectly.

Best Dressed of the CMAs

Miranda Lambert looked amazing last night, in her Gatsby-inspired old Hollywood gown. We love the blush shade and the daring neckline. Stunning.

Kimberly Perry looked sophisticated and elegant in her gorgeous long-fitted black gown. The mesh paneled neck adds some interest and keeps the dress from being boring.

Lucy Hale was rocking the red — on the dress and the lips, and we love this classic look! The sexy waist-cinching belt is the perfect addition.

Meghan Trainor wore one of our favorite fall trends — lace — perfectly, and we love that she wasn’t afraid to pick a bold blue color. Let’s just say, we are all about that lace.

We love Cassadee Pope’s metallic maxi skirt with the simple and chic black top and statement necklace. Simple, sophisticated and beautiful.

Best Eye Candy of the CMAs

Luke Bryan, you can crash our party any time.

Josh Turner looked adorable with his dimples and his gorgeous smile and that plaid suit. Love it all.

We love that Dierks Bentley wore a playful checked suit in a lighter shade than the norm. He was looking mighty debonair.

Chase Bryant was rocking the fitted black suit. Classic and cute.

Worst Dressed of the CMAs

I’m sorry, Gretchen Wilson, did you forget that you were going to the CMA’s? Sure, it’s country, but still. She could have tried just a little bit, no? The ripped jeans just aren’t doing it for me. She looks like she’s headed to a biker bar, not an awards show.

At first glance, we like Kellie Pickler’s dress. We do. But then your eyes start scanning downward, and it turns quickly from like to why-are-you-wearing-your-grandmother’s-velour-curtains-as-a-dress? And the open mesh panels throughout are just confusing and so not flattering.

All I can say about this one is, what was Aubrey Peeples thinking? The crop top was a huge trend for high schoolers in the summer, but for an awards show? Hmm, no.

There is nothing wrong with Kacey Musgraves’ pink dress, but who even has the chance to notice it with that hair? Girl, I get that whole “the bigger the hair, the closer to God” thing but this is just crazy big. Like, you look like a cartoon character big. Not cute.

The black-and-white confetti and the extreme poof factor of the tulle on Clare Bowen’s dress are just too much. This isn’t a high school dance.

What do you think? Who were your picks for best and worst dressed?
