Lauren Conrad Bans Body-Shaming Words From Her Website

Lifestyle guru Lauren Conrad just announced that she will be banning body-shaming words from her eponymous website. It's official: 'Toned' is the new 'skinny.'

"Starting this month, we'll be banning any body-shaming terms from the site, and replacing them with words like 'fit' 'toned,' and 'healthy,'" she said in a blog post.

Conrad makes a great point. Very often in articles about summer and bathing suits the focus is on getting skinny, instead of choosing a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

Going forward, the use of the word "skinny" will be reserved as an adjective for a cut of jeans.

In addition to the fabulous fashion we love from Lauren, we can now expect an even more health conscious space on the Web. The editorial calendar is full of healthy eating tips, including protein-packed "Meatless Monday" ideas as well as fitness content. We're particularly excited to find out how to get out of a fitness rut.

"My editorial team and I had a long talk about it, and we want to make sure that the focus is on being fit as opposed to a number on the scale," Conrad said. "Every body is created differently—and healthy bodies come in all shapes and sizes."

We don't know about you, but we've never been so excited to get healthy and toned this swimsuit season!
