There is no stopping Kelly Ripa from doing her
job, not even some broken bones. On Thursday morning, Ripa stumbled across the
stage in crutches and a boot before taking her seat with co-host Michael
Strahan on "Live! With Kelly and Michael." Who's the culprit you ask? A free
weight that was left on the floor during her dance class.
"I was in
a dance class which I typically, usually am, and somebody had left a weight on
the floor," Ripa told the audience. "All I know is, I did a jump — and in my mind I am an incredible
dancer as graceful as can be — and I landed on the weight and my foot went
over and under the weight. It sounded like bubble wrap."
Harris who was in the class with her asked if Ripa needed an ambulance. To
avoid any chances of being seen on the evening news, Ripa crawled her way out
of the class and went to her doctor. Although four bones broke, she luckily
didn't need surgery. However, she found out that her bones are closer
together than normal, which may have caused the tumble.
True to her
style-maven ways, Ripa refuses to wear her boot for six weeks straight.
"There's a special shoe that you wear with your boot, but I am not wearing
that. I don't plan on being in this [boot] for that long."
Mark Consuelos seemed to get a kick of out Kelly's "suffering," recording a video of her using the wheelchair elevator at the hospital. We hope that
Kelly feels better, but we don't think she has anything to worry about—she
still looks fabulous, even with the crutches and boot.
