Celebrating its 30th
anniversary, Elle magazine tapped 30-year-old British A-list actress Keira
Knightley to cover their September issue not only for one, but four different covers.
In the exclusive interview Knightley opens up about her family and reveals her
daughter's name: Edie.
Knightley, who had Edie this
past May, got married to British musician James Righton of the band Klaxons in
2013. During award season Knightley, who received a slew of nominations for her
role in "The Imitation Game," was very much pregnant. But, her red carpet
fashion moments looked even more amazing with her bump.
Along with welcoming her
first child, Knightley also hit the milestone of turning 30 this year in
March—an age she was definitely ready to take on.
twenties were pretty crap," Knightley
told Elle Magazine. "My career was absolutely amazing; in fact, I
don't think my career will ever get better than it was in my late teens, early
twenties. But as a person, you're changing so much and you're trying to figure
stuff out. It took me a lot of years to try and stop pleasing a lot of people
and allow myself to have fun. It's the difficult thing of getting out of your
own head. To stop going, 'Oh, there's something I should be doing, there's a
way I should be behaving, I should be dressing ...' All of those 'shoulds,' you can
drown in them."
actress revealed what it's like to be a new mom and appreciating her body
thing is astonishing. It's
a very primal, primal love. That's quite extraordinary. And the ability to
have no sleep and continue going. It's not pleasant — I never thought that I
could actually do it for the amount of time that I've done it. [But then] you
go through pregnancy and labor and then feeding the kid and you go, 'Wow, my
body is totally amazing,' and I'm never going to not like it again, because it
did this, and this is fucking extraordinary."
We absolutely love how Knightley is openly embracing new motherhood and taking on 30.
