Born Archibald Leach, Grant epitomized European sophistication. After the disappearance of his mother, teenage Grant become involved in the theatre which eventually took him to NewYork. At the age of 17, he decided to stay in New York where he had already had success as an actor. In 1942, at the age of 38, Grant officially became a U.S. citizen. Thankfully, he never lost his European charm and sophistication.
