Akrit Jaswal was talking by 10 months, and had his head buried in Shakespeare’s plays by age 5. He loved science and anatomy, though, and local Indian doctors saw his obvious knack for their profession. He started sitting in on surgeries at age 6, studying everything he could soak up to help him understand the procedures. At age 7, Askrit gained international fame performing his first surgery on a girl whose family could not afford medical care. It was a success, landing him on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2011. At age 17, he’s currently working on his master’s in applied chemistry.
