Music icon David Bowie passed away yesterday after an 18-month-long battle with cancer, and while many fans paid tribute to the late star, there was one person who offered an especially touching goodbye—Bowie's son, Duncan Jones.
The 44-year-old Jones, whose last name reflects his father's birth name, posted a short note on Twitter accompanied by a black-and-white image of Bowie carrying him as a baby on his shoulders.
"Very sorry and sad to say it's true," Jones wrote. "I'll be offline for a while. Love to all."
Jones is the son of Bowie and first wife Angela Bowie. The English filmmaker is one of Bowie's two sons. Jones has a half-sister, Alexandria "Lexi" Zahra Jones, who is the 15-year-old daughter of Bowie and supermodel wife Iman.
Known for songs such as "Space Oddity," "Young Americans" and "Let's Dance," Bowie's career spanned five decades, with his last album, "Blackstar," released last Friday, which also was his 69th birthday.
