Last weekend Malia Obama, who we have watched grow up over the last eight years, graduated from high school. After taking a "gap year" the first daughter will start school at Harvard.
No doubt Malia was a straight-A student. She probably had oodles of extracurricular activities under her belt. Certainly, she nailed the application essay.
But, are we allowed to say it? Her parents are the president and the first lady and that had to carry some weight in the admissions process, too. No college, big or small, can avoid giving preference to applicants whose last names are well-known.
