Kandi Launches Raising Ace
Kandi Burruss is one busy mama!
The "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star is not only working on her hit reality show, she also just launched a baby gear line called Raising Ace, named after her 1-year-old son.
"People always ask other parents for their favorite go-to items. Especially new parents. Raising Ace is basically my list of go to products," Burruss tells Mom.me. "Simple things like how our fork and spoon set has a travel case. We tried to think of the little things."
Burruss is also mom to 14-year-old daughter Riley and "bonus daughter" (she's not crazy about the term "stepdaughter") with her husband, Todd Tucker.
The entrepreneur says motherhood is "awesome," but she also acknowledges that she has lots of help, too.
"My family pitches in and makes sacrifices so that I can handle my crazy schedule," she says. "Overall, I have to put my kids' schedules on my business calendar so that everyone on my team knows not to book me for anything during my kids' important moments."
Great tip! Find out what else she says about motherhood, her real-life hero and the baby names that didn't make the cut.
What quality makes for a good mom?
What is your favorite quality in a dad?
A man who is really there and active with his kids.
What did you think you'd be when you grew up?
Lots of different things: an accountant, a lawyer, performing arts teacher and a singer/actress. I got my record deal and first hit record in high school when I was in the group Xscape. So I figured out early what I was going to be.
What trait do you hope your kid inherits from you?
My go-getter mentality. My mom always told me I could do anything I put my mind to, and I believed her. I want my kids to be fearless and go for what they want in life! More than anything, I want them to be leaders, not followers.
What do you appreciate most in your friends?
My real friends are loyal and genuinely supportive. They are also honest! I love when they give it to me straight and back me up 110 percent.
What is your idea of misery?
Having no family and doing a job that doesn't make you happy.
If you could switch lives with anyone, who would you switch with?
What's the one quality you want to have as a parent?
To be someone they can talk to. I want my kids to trust and confide in me.
What is the social media platform you can't live without?
Who is your favorite fictional hero?
That's a good question. I love so many. The "Alien" movie series is one of my all-time favorites, so the Sigourney Weaver character.

What is your favorite children's book?
The baby name that didn't make the final cut?
There were a few. Brave, Legend and a couple that I will keep to myself just in case we have another one. Not that we're planning to have more, but you never know.
What was the last thing you binge-watched?
"The Get Down" on Netflix.

What talent do you wish you had?
I wish I could play the piano.

Who are your heroes in real life?
My mom. She raised me and my late brother as a single mom, and I think she did a great job.
What word or phrase do you never want to hear again?
Hmmm ... maybe "beat." Like when they say, "She is beat, honey!" Meaning she looked good.
What is your greatest indulgence?
