"The world is round, people!" Thus spake the amazing Cate Blanchett as she challenged Hollywood's thinking about women in film at the 2014 Academy Awards. The Oscar winner for Best Actress - for her role in Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine - used her speech to make a point about female roles in tinseltown. "Female films with women at the centre are NOT niche. Women want to see them. They make money," said the mom of three boys. Blanchett also thanked Blue Jasmine director Woody Allen, who was not present at the awards. 'Thank you so much Woody, thank you so much for casting me, I truly appreciate it,' she said.
