Even if you lose all the weight, there’s no guarantee your post-baby and pre-baby body will look like exact replicas. Mom and actress Kristen Bell recently told Redbook she plans to continue working out to lose the weight, but will not hold herself captive to the “Hollywood weight” ideal she once held to. "I'd like to get back down to where I was before the baby, but if this is where my body wants to be, so be it,” she said. “I'm not going to make myself miserable for the rest of my life trying to get back to where I was before."
Bell has the right mindset, says Dr. Sara Gottfried, author of The Hormone Cure, who also notes that few women return to their exact same shoe, bra size and dress size after the nine-month body overhaul that is pregnancy—but that's not a bad thing. "I recommend seeing this transition as a great opportunity to marvel at the miracle of your body, and to reclaim the parts that are most important to you in a new and improved way," she says. "Whether that's your core, or your J.Lo butt!
