Weight Watchers spokeswoman Jessica Simpson reportedly focused on a portion-controlled diet of healthy meals to shed 25 pounds in five weeks after giving birth to her second baby—a lesson she learned from back-to-back pregnancies, even though she admitted, “It was hard to do two so close together.” Now, the fashion-mogul mom is looking to get back into shape for good.
To make faster progress with weight loss, look to your diet. New moms often eat too many quick (and caloric) meals instead of healthy ones, or wait too long between meals, causing a binge later on. “Buy frozen fruits and vegetables in bulk to store in the freezer—these retain all of the important nutrients you need, provide filling fiber, and still serve as an easy-to-whip-up part of any meal,” says NYC-based dietitian Jaclyn London. “Quinoa cooks in just 15 minutes—think about making a big batch for the week storing to use in different recipes, like with fresh fruit, nuts and milk in the mornings, or dinner stir-fry with veggies and grilled chicken.”
