For 72-year-old painter Ken Delmar, it only took the better part of a lifetime for his turn on stage to come. The Stamford, Conn., resident had been making art for most of his life, but the turning point came when he noticed that the colors he was painting with were even more vibrant on the paper towels he used to clean his brushes than on the canvasses themselves. As an experiment, he started using the towels as a painting surface—and soon realized this produced even greater results
After the Stamford Advocate profiled Delmar, the paper towel brand, Bounty, got wind of his story. The brand decided to sponsor Delmar, and he's now set to show his abstract portraits for two weeks at the George Billis Gallery in New York City.
