Vegan Banana Chocolate Smoothie

This easy vegan banana chocolate smoothie recipe with only four ingredients will feel like you're having a naughty dessert, but it's actually very healthy! It's got a perfectly frosty, creamy consistency and not only is the recipe vegan-friendly, it's also dairy-free, gluten-free and has zero added sugar.

Cacao has been used for centuries by ancient cultures such as the Aztecs and Mayans. Raw cacao powder is rich in antioxidants, nutrients and minerals such as magnesium, copper and manganese. Add a tablespoon of the vegan protein powder of your choice for even more of a boost.

RECIPE: Vegan Banana Chocolate Smoothie

Yields 12 ounces (one serving or two 6-ounce servings)


  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 frozen bananas (slice before you freeze)
  • 3 medjool dates, pitted and soaked in the almond milk for 20-30 minutes
  • 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder


  1. Remove pits from dates and soak in the almond milk for 20-30 minutes to soften.
  2. Add ingredients to blender in this order: almond milk, frozen banana slices, dates, raw cacao powder.
  3. Blend on high until completely smooth.
