Recipe Rescue: Thanksgiving Dessert Alternatives

The only pie I love is a pizza pie. I know, un-American. But I just don't get excited about pie. It's like it can't decide whether to be sweet (filling) or savory (crust).

Speaking from experience, Thanksgiving is the worst time to be tagged a pie-hater. You see, for many people, the turkey, mashed spuds, stuffing and green bean casserole are just hurdles to get past before moving on to the main event: pie. If you are not with pie enthusiasts, you are perceived to be against them (and, secretly, I am).

But, do we have to stick with the generationally tried and true? Maybe not. If you're a risk-taker, a merry-maker or even a pie-baker put a spin on what's expected at the end of the feast and try out one of these truly unique Thanksgiving-week desserts.
