The Best Short Ribs Recipe

This short ribs recipe, courtesy of Maire Byrne, chef and founder of Thyme Cafe and Market, is a palatable collision of sweet and salty piquancy, sure to satisfy any carnivorous cravings. The rub alone will have everyone's mouths watering.

Recipe: Short Ribs

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoke salt
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne peper
  • 2 tablespoons onion powder
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 cups barbecue sauce

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F. Mix together spices for rub. Cover ribs completely with rub.
  2. Lay ribs on foiled sheet pan, meaty side down, and cover with foil.
  3. Bake 2 1/2 hours until meat is starting to shrink away from end of the bone. Remove from oven.
  4. Cut ribs into portions desired, cover with BBQ sauce.
  5. Put back into a 500°F oven for 3-5 minutes or into a broiler for 1-2.
  6. Turn ribs over and repeat on other side.
