Smashed Cherry Whiskey Cocktail

The Best Remedy, a beautiful site by New York-based designer Kelly Carámbula, is our go-to spot for delicious, seasonal cocktail recipes. Kelly features other inspiring recipes on the site as well (Peach and Ricotta Pancakes or Spring Pizza, anyone?) but it is her cocktails that get us every time. She's a true professional at creating interesting, uber-seasonal drinks using fresh fruits from the farmers markets. Kelly's independent food magazine, Remedy Quarterly, is, much like a good cocktail, a respite from the busy hustle and bustle of daily life: It's filled with food memories and the recipes that inspired them along with interviews from chefs, artisans and other food folks. We fell in love with this particular cocktail because it's a departure from so many summer drinks we've been seeing around the internet and on restaurant menus: It's strong and dark.
