  • 1. Bring sea water to a rolling boil.

  • 2. Keep it boiling until there's just one inch of water left. How long this takes depends on how much seawater you've got. It took us about an hour and fifteen minutes for approximately 4 quarts. 

  • 3. Stay nearby and occasionally stir with a wooden spoon.

  • 4. Scrape at the pan to reveal the salt forming.

  • 5. Once the water is gone, turn off the heat.

  • 6. Collect the salt on a plate in a thin layer at room temperature to continue to dry out.

  • 7. Enjoy that hard-earned sea salt!
