Friday Cocktail: The Hollywood

In-Home Movie Martini

The Feat: Watched Your Kids' Favorite Movie with Them

Your children absolutely love watching their favorite movie over and over again, and, while you're so sick of watching that particular movie, you've decided you could handle watching the flick one more time if it meant that you'd get in some quality time with your kids. You even popped popcorn and had their favorite beverages to make it a real movie-going experience. You practiced your suspension of disbelief and tried to watch the movie through the eyes of your children. You were a bit surprised how much you enjoyed yourself, but that was in part because your kids were having such a great time. Admittedly, you found yourself longing for some real dialogue and a little less computer graphics. But as the saying goes, they don't make them like they used to.

Maybe there would be a classic film on the movie channel you could watch after the kids went to bed. Meanwhile, you can ponder the future of the movie business while you taste a lovely little martini called The Hollywood. It has just three ingredients, much like a good film should have three acts. Shake, sip, and remember you're a star ... a star of a mom!

The Reward: The Hollywood

  • 1 ounce vodka
  • 1 ounce raspberry liqueur
  • Pineapple juice, to fill
  • Garnish: pineapple chunks (optional)
  1. Pour the vodka and raspberry liqueur into a shaker half filled with ice.
  2. Shake and strain into a martini glass.
