7 Office Style No-Nos

It's not just your career performance that can cause you to win—or lose—points with the higher-ups. Sad but true, how you present yourself, i.e. your physical appearance, has an effect on how your colleagues and boss perceive you. You never want to be caught wearing something that says, "I'm just here for a paycheck."

To make the best impression at your job, take note of these common office style mistakes, along with the zodiac signs that are most likely to fall prey to them.

No-No #1: Athletic Apparel
Biggest offenders: Aries, Gemini, Virgo
Unless you work at a fitness studio, yoga pants and a hoodie are most likely not considered office-appropriate. Rebellious Aries may know the rules but flaunts them anyway, while an on-the-go Gemini could be too busy to actually get dressed in the morning. Then there's health-oriented Virgo, who could very well be punching in between sweat sessions or outdoor hikes. Even so, the fleeces and sneakers should be saved for the gym—or casual Friday, at least.

No-No #2: Too Much Skin
Biggest offenders: Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius
Look-at-me Leo, sensual Scorpio and ahead-of-the-curve Aquarius are all prone to wearing outfits that are a bit too revealing for the workplace. If you must rock that crop top or backless dress, keep a cardigan at your desk so you can cover up during meetings or any time you leave your cubicle. This way, you won't look like you're more concerned with hitting the town than putting your nose to the grindstone.

No-No #3: Bling Overload
Biggest offenders: Libra, Leo
Libras and Leos sure love the shiny stuff. But the office is not the place to parade around in your grandmother's five-carat diamond ring or flaunt that Art Deco statement necklace with those huge gold hoop earrings. Keep things classy and tasteful at work. A good rule of thumb is to limit yourself to one statement piece at a time.

No-No #4: Polarizing Statement Tees
Biggest Offenders: Sagittarius, Aquarius
Sure, you may be a dedicated vegan or fervent political supporter, but the workplace is not the right venue to proclaim your personal beliefs. Passionate Sagittarius and Aquarius natives are especially likely to wear their causes on their sleeves (literally). We don't doubt the convictions of these signs, but save the potentially inflammatory clothing for off-duty hours.

No-No #5: Over-the-Top Duds
Biggest Offenders: Taurus and Capricorn
Some zodiac signs have really taken the saying, "dress for the job you want" to heart, gussying themselves up so much that they outshine their bosses. Luxury-loving Taurus might merely want to show off gorgeous new duds, whereas ambitious Capricorn may be using that slick suit to angle for a raise. This offense probably isn't a career-killer, but wearing a power suit when your supervisor is in jeans can make you look like you're trying a tad too hard.

No-No #6: Dress Code Violations
Biggest Offenders: Aries, Cancer, Pisces
Most offices have some sort of code of conduct that establishes a baseline of proper workplace attire, whether it means business suits for everyone, or merely limits jeans to Fridays. Creative—and sometimes spacey—Pisces may have forgotten to read the company handbook, thus missing the memo entirely. Meanwhile, Aries tends to act first and ask for forgiveness later, and Cancers might interpret the rules to fit their needs, often preferring to be ultra comfy (and perhaps taking that silk pajama trend too far).

No-No #7: No Team Spirit
Biggest Offenders: Capricorn, Taurus
Of course it's important to maintain a buttoned-up, professional image most of the time, but don't let that turn you into Scrooge on company dress-up days. A bit of a curmudgeon, Capricorn may feel too refined for Hawaiian Shirt Wednesday, while Taurus might be reluctant to ditch her pencil skirt for the department-wide Halloween costume contest. There are moments when giving in to your sillier side and stepping out of your comfort zone could make you look like more of a team player.
