When it comes to shaving, there isn't an alarm that goes off, letting girls know when it's time to whip out new razors. That magic moment—the age when girls are ready to rid their bodies of leg or underarm hair—might be 10 or 11. For others it might be 13 or 14.
“There really isn't a ‘right’ age,” says Jessica Weiner, author of body-image book Life Doesn’t Begin 5 Pounds From Now. “It's all about the girl, her body and her family's beliefs about self-care and beauty—because shaving is a personal choice for many women and girls.”
