“A good conversation is in order, to inquire about why she wants to shave, and how does she feel about keeping up that ritual in her life,” Weiner says. “Some girls don't realize that they have to keep it up continually.” She also says this is a good time for you, as a mom, to share your personal views on body hair and the pressure many girls feel to shave.
“There are a lot of dynamics around this moment for girls,” Weiner says. “It can set up the first time they begin to think critically about their own body's natural state.”
