Mom Creates Gorgeous Photographs of One-Handed Daughter

While 5-year-old Violet Spring has lived her life with only one fully formed hand, her mother Holly Spring wanted her to know that she was still amazing, beautiful and a source of joy.

So the New Zealand photographer and mom created a whimsical photo series with her daughter as the subject, showing just how inspiring her little girl is.

"She is my little muse," Holly told Today.com. "She has taught me so much about myself. As much as she is my model, she is also my role model and reminds me to have the same courage in life."

Violet was born with symbrachydactyly, a congenital condition that left her without a fully formed left hand. She also suffers from Hirschsprung's disease, which is a gastrointestinal disorder.

One heartbreaking moment, Holly reveals to Today.com, was when Violet asked if her hand would ever grow correctly. While Holly had to tell her that it would never grow into a fully developed hand, she also wanted to show her daughter the power and inspiration that come from a vivid imagination.

"To me, they reached beyond her physical capabilities, beyond her age and onto a limitless future," Holly tells Today about the photos.
