A year ago we painted half a wall in my son’s room with
chalkboard paint. Let me tell you, at
times it has been a lifesaver—especially during our long cold winters.
Most of the time he draws on his own, and his little sister
likes to try too.
Other times I will draw different things that he is into at
the moment. The Polar Express was a huge
hit last winter, so I drew a train and he started singing Christmas songs.
Or I trace some of his toys and let him color them in.
Sometimes we come up with ideas together. Last Christmas he got this garbage truck and
played with it for hours and hours, so I created a little street he could drive
down and collect trash from.
Right now, he is really into monster trucks and race cars,
so I made this crazy course for him to race his cars on.
The chalkboard is just fun for everyone. The possibilities are truly endless and it
will grow right along with him.
