Alicia Keys recently stirred things up when she dared—DARED—to stop wearing make-up.
“To fit in or be thought of as beautiful, you have to cover up to be a bit closer to perfect,” she stated in an essay about her lifestyle change for Lenny Letter.
time I left the house, I would be worried if I didn’t put on makeup:
What if someone wanted a picture?” she wrote. “What if they POSTED it???
These were the insecure, superficial, but honest thoughts I was
thinking. And all of it, one way or another, was based too much on what
other people thought of me.“
She is proud of her decision to toss out the foundation, powder, lipstick and mascara—so much so that she started a hashtag campaign #nomakeup. We mere mortals may not have the genes or the confidence to go au natural, but there are plenty of celebrities who will.

Supermodel and mom Karolina Kurkova shows that supermodels don't need makeup to be glamorous. Bonus points for Karolina taking this photo while pumping and giving a shout out to pumping and breastfeeding moms in the US.
