How-To: Boxer Braid

Tina Dizon, founder of the Beverly Hills salon The Private Room, gave us an exclusive tutorial for the boxer braid (also known as the Dutch Braid or Inverted French Braid) that will make even most braid-phobic moms look like a pro. Follow this guide to achieve the boxer braid.

Step 1: Part hair down the middle, separate into two sections.

Step 2: Starting on one side, form a triangle at the top with hair and split into three even strands (we've added a pink strand so you can follow the steps more easily).

Step 3: Cross left outer strand over to the center, cross right outer strand over to the center, cross left outer strand to center, then add hair to center section.

Step 4: Repeat until you reach the end of the hair and finish with the three strand braid.

Step 5: Secure with elastic.

Step 6: Repeat on the other side.

TIPS: Keep hands and the sections close to the head.
